Berry Plastics Corp. is cutting back its work force at its Kent plant by about a third, the company acknowledged Thursday.
The company, headquartered in Evansville, Ind., said it is “streamlining” its manufacturing.
The Kent plant, which manufactures packaging for the food industry, is laying off 48 of its 150 Kent workers.
“The company will work diligently to assist those interested in securing employment at other Berry Plastics plants or within the local labor market,” Berry said in a prepared statement.
Berry Plastics has another Puget Sound-area plant in Tacoma.
