A two-alarm fire at an Auburn four-plex early Sunday morning displaced 19 people.
The Valley Regional Fire Authority was called to the fire in the 2400 block of Poplar Street Southeast just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday. When crews arrived, they found the two-story building "with heavy fire involvement" from a center unit of the four-plex, said Dan Bosch of Valley Regional Fire Authority. The fire involved the first and second floors of the unit, as well as the attic, he said.
A second alarm was called, and firefighters from Kent Regional Fire Authority, South King Fire and Rescue, Medic One and King County Fire Protection District No. 44 responded.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the one unit, although "the adjoining units on both sides suffered extensive water and smoke damage," Bosch said.
No one was injured in the fire. The residents of the damaged homes are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Bosch said.
