 • Head up to Safeco Field to see the Mariners take on the Baltimore Orioles. First pitch is at 6:10 tonight, and there are games Tuesdays and Wednesday as well.

 • It’s going to be an evening of art song and opera performed by PLU faculty at the Opera and Art Song Recital. Artists include: Marlette Buchanan, noted soprano who has sung at Seattle Opera and Village Theatre; Charles Robert Stephens, a baritone who has sung leading roles with opera companies all over the U.S. and abroad; and pianist Jennifer Bowman, Olympia native and graduate of The Juilliard School in New York. The performance is at 8 tonight at Lagerquist Hall, Mary Baker Russell Music Center, Eighth Avenue Court South and Wheeler Street South, Parkland.     Arden Vie, the 101-year-old Pasco man who fell in love with soap operas 50 years ago, is featured in the March 18 edition of Soap Opera Digest, his son Greg Vie told the Herald.

    His father, a fan of Days of Our Lives, was featured in a recent Herald story about his invitation to visit the Hollywood set by the cast of the soap opera where they helped Arden Vie celebrate his 101st birthday.

  • Preschoolers' tour of Seattle Opera hits all the right notes

    Proving it's never too early to introduce children to some culture, preschoolers from Gig Harbor Academy on Friday got a chance to visit the Seattle Opera at McCaw Hall.
