A rally and vigil to honor Lindsey Baum, who disappeared in McCleary on June 26, 2009, is set for 7 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Park, 330 Fifth Ave. SW, Olympia.
The event is one of several organized for the ninth annual “On the Road to Remember,” a national campaign by the North Carolina-based Community United Effort (CUE) Center for Missing Persons.
“After so many years, these cases fade from the public’s radar, but for the families and friends of a missing person, the nightmare continues – every minute of every day their loved one is absent,” the organization’s founder, Monica Caison, said in a news release.
The tour began Thursday in Los Angeles and is scheduled to wrap up Wednesday in North Carolina. Its goal is to call attention to unsolved cases involving about 60 missing people, four unidentified bodies and three homicides.
Lindsey was 10 when she disappeared while walking home after visiting a friend on Maple Street in McCleary. The cause has remained a mystery since, and detectives have uncovered few leads.
