Woman badly injured in motorcycle accident on Yakima Avenue

A 25-year-old woman was critically injured Thursday night when she was thrown from a motorcycle, Tacoma police said Friday.

A 25-year-old woman was critically injured Thursday night when she was thrown from a motorcycle, Tacoma police said Friday.

The accident occurred about 1:20 a.m. at South Yakima Avenue and 86th Street.

The motorcycle was southbound on Yakima Avenue when it hit a concrete center divider, throwing the woman and the driver from the bike.

Police were unsure whether the pair were wearing helmets.

The woman was taken to a hospital. The driver, a 26-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.
