PULLMAN – The Washington State men’s basketball team, plagued in recent years by players transferring or turning pro early and by recruits failing to qualify academically, now must find a new starting point guard.
The university issued a press release Monday afternoon announcing that senior Reggie Moore had been dismissed “for violation of team rules.”
In the release, coach Ken Bone said, “Reggie has been an important part of the basketball program for the last three years and I wish him the very best in the future.”
A WSU spokesperson said Bone would make no other comments. Moore, who could not be reached for comment, wrote “Rock bottom” on his Twitter account.
Royce Woolridge, a sophomore transfer from Kansas, is Moore’s backup. Woolridge redshirted last year.
Moore, a three-year starter, led the Pacific-12 Conference with a career-high 5.2 assists per game last season. His 10.2 scoring average ranked third on a team that finished 19-18 after losing to Pittsburgh in the finals of the College Basketball Invitational.
