Rangers recovered the body of a woman Monday from the base of a cliff below Ricksecker Point at Mount Rainier National Park, officials said Tuesday.
Her injuries were consistent with a fall from a great height, according to the park.
The body is not that of one of the four people who went missing higher on the mountain in January, park spokeswoman Patti Wold said. Three of those bodies have been recovered.
Ground crews and a helicopter began searching Monday after rangers Sunday night connected a vehicle that had been parked at the point for several days to a missing person report.
The body was taken by helicopter to the Lewis County Coroner’s Office, which had not yet identified the woman Tuesday.
The park is investigating the incident, Wold said.
Ricksecker Point is an overlook just off the Longmire-Paradise Road west of Paradise.
