The Washington Redskins strengthened the running back position with Wednesday's signing of Ryan Grant.

Grant joins the Redskins after a five-year stint with the Green Bay Packers. In 63 career games, the Notre Dame product has rushed for 4,016 yards and 25 touchdowns on 924 carries. He has also caught 92 passes for 726 yards and two scores.

To make room for Grant on the roster, the Redskins placed Roy Helu, Jr. on injured reserve. The second-year running back has been battling lower-leg injuries that have plagued him since the end of his rookie season.
