WEDNESday’s highlights

Junior Courtney Schwan (22 kills, seven aces), with help from middle hitters Katherine Joyce (11 kills, three blocks) and Claire Martin (seven kills, three blocks), led Narrows 4A League champion Bellarmine Prep over 4A state champion Olympia, 25-27, 25-13, 25-16, 25-11. The Lions had 50 kills. Hannah Adams had 10 kills and Kayla Thaller had 25 assists for the Bears.

Charles Wright’s Shelby Fisher had 19 kills and 11 blocks in the 24-26, 23-25, 25-12, 25-18, 15-8 Nisqually League 1A win over Vashon. Lauren Meadowcroft had 23 assists for the Tarriers.

North Thurston’s Tyler Reece (17 minutes, 43 seconds) won the cross-country quad-meet for the boys, and schoolmate Hallie Whitley (20:33) won the girls race at Wilson High School. North Thurston defeated league opponents Wilson, Foss and Mount Tahoma in the boys and girls competition.

Auburn’s Makayla Sonstelie scored the winning goal in the Trojans’ 2-1 girls soccer victory over Kentwood on Tuesday. The News Tribune had Sonstelie playing for the wrong team and the wrong outcome on Page B4 Wednesday.
