The biggest apartment project built in Tacoma since the beginning of the recession is rising near the Tacoma Mall’s west entrance off South Pine Street. The seven-story building is one of two that will be built on the site. While condo sales in the Tacoma area still are moving slowly, apartment vacancies are low, thus the decision to use the site for apartment structures instead of offices as originally considered. Size: 177 units ranging from studios to two bedroom, two bath units with a den alcove, Square footage ranges from 617 square feet to 1,136 square feet. General contractor and developer: Rush Commercial, Gig Harbor. Rent: Preliminary pricing is $750 to $1,400 per month depending on size. Amenities: Stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, decks, fireplaces in some units, pets welcome, outdoor pool, library, fitness center, walk-in closets in many units, full-size washer and dryer, proximity to shopping and entertainment.
