The San Diego Chargers have declared kicker Nate Kaeding out for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Kaeding injured his groin during Friday's practice.
The Chargers signed kicker Nick Novak on Saturday to replace Kaeding for this week's contest. In order to make room on the roster, the team has released guard/tackle Reggie Wells.
Kaeding missed the rest of the 2011 campaign after tearing ligaments in his knee in Week 1. Novak replaced him last season, making 27-of-34 field goal attempts.
