Hollywood star and native son Josh Lucas will be this year’s celebrity guest Oct. 18 at the Gig Harbor Film Festival.

Lucas has starred in movies ranging from the romantic comedy “Sweet Home Alabama” to the action drama “Stealth.” The New York City resident is a 1989 graduate of Gig Harbor High School and starred in this year’s “The Firm” series on NBC.

He will be taking time off from his current movie, a drama being filmed in Virginia, to attend the Gig Harbor festival.

Lucas will introduce the feature “Red Dog” at the event’s opening night gala. It was filmed in Australia and was released in 2011. It’s become one of the most popular films ever made Down Under, Lucas said earlier this week.
