A man driving through Tacoma early Friday was shot in the foot in a drive-by shooting, police said.

The man was driving with friends about 12:10 a.m. when a dark SUV pulled up next to them in the 6400 block of East M Street and someone inside fired a single round, police said.

The bullet went through the driver’s side door and lodged in the victim’s foot. The SUV sped off.

The victim drove to a store in the 700 block of South 56th Street and asked people in the parking lot to call 911. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the man and his friends were doing nothing wrong.
