Sex offender registeries
The following convicted sex offenders have recently registered to live in Pierce County.
Each is categorized as a Level 3 sex offender – those considered most likely to commit similar crimes. None is wanted by law enforcement officers at this time.
All convicted sex offenders registered to live in Tacoma and Pierce County are listed on the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department’s website at www.piercesheriff.org.
SHAWN HAMILTON
Age: 23.
Description: 5 feet 9 and 230 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
Where registered to live: 13000 block of Lincoln Avenue Southwest, Lakewood.
Criminal history: Convicted in 2005 of first-degree child molestation in Pierce County for sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl.
Sex offender treatment: Participated in a treatment program while incarcerated.

MICHAEL R. BUFFAM
Age: 41.
Description: 5 feet 10 and 200 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
Where registered to live: 6600 block of 150th Street Southwest, Lakewood.
Criminal history: Convicted in 1987 of child rape for sexually assaulting a 4-year-old boy he was tasked with putting to bed. Also convicted in 1989 of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy. Authorities said Buffam impersonated a school inspector investigating vandalism multiple times before forcing the boy into his apartment and assaulting him.
Other: Has prior convictions for second-degree kidnapping, second-degree arson, first-degree escape and third-degree theft.
Sex offender treatment: Participated in a treatment program while incarcerated.
