A 79-year-old Kent man was killed Monday while crossing a busy road.
The accident happened just before 6 a.m. in the 14300 block of Southeast Kent Kangley Road, near Lake Meridian.
The man was crossing the five-lane road when he stepped in front of a vehicle driven by a 63-year-old man. The pedestrian was hit and fatally injured; the driver was not hurt.
“At this time it appears that the pedestrian simply chose to cross this busy roadway while less than a block from a marked cross walk and traffic signals,” police Assistant Chief Pat Lowery said.
The man had not been identified as of Monday afternoon.
