A woman and her 3-year-old son didn’t appear to be seriously injured Sunday in a Lakewood car crash, but a Pomeranian died in the wreck, police said Monday.

An issue related to a seizure disorder caused the 25-year-old woman to pass out at the wheel at 9:45 a.m. while she was driving west on 100th Street Southwest near Gravelly Lake Drive Southwest, Lakewood police said.

The car jumped the curb and broke through the fence of the nearby elementary school and came to rest on its roof on the lawn. The mother and her child did not seem seriously injured but were taken to the hospital to be evaluated, police said.

A Pomeranian hit the windshield during the crash and was killed, police said.
