The Houston Texans released quarterback John Beck on Wednesday, ending the veteran's four-game tenure with the team.
Beck, who started three games with the Washington Redskins last season, had been serving as the Texans' third-string quarterback after signing as a free agent in May, shortly after being released by the Redskins following last April's NFL Draft.
The 31-year-old threw for 858 yards and two touchdowns with four interceptions in four overall games with Washington in 2011, with the Redskins losing all three of his starts.
A second-round draft choice by Miami in 2007, Beck also started four times as a rookie with the Dolphins and compiled 559 passing yards with one touchdown and three interceptions.
In a corresponding move, the Texans re-signed safety Troy Nolan. The fourth- year pro spent his first three NFL seasons with Houston from 2009-11 and appeared in three games with Miami this season before being waived on Sept. 25.
