We need new terms for Geno Smith
Yes, it was the Baylor defense. But Geno Smith’s game last week against the Bears was ludicrous. Smith threw more touchdowns (8) than incompletions (6) in the game. He’s completing an obscene 83.4 percent of his passes this season.
Could there be a sponsorship in Oregon State’s future?
The Beavers are making In-N-Out runs following big wins, and coach Mike Riley is tweeting all about it. Wonder if Coach will think of any ink-stained wretches the next time he gets a fresh double-double with some fries.
Big things in small packages
Air Force dynamo Cody Getz is the second-leading rusher in the country, averaging 170.75 yards a game. Just 5-foot-7 and 175 pounds, he’s no big bruiser. Getz will try to run all over Navy this weekend.
Can osmosis apply to a coaching staff?
Arkansas was up 10-7 at the end of the first quarter last week against Texas A&M. Then, it allowed 51 consecutive points. If you peruse to the Razorbacks’ coaching list and look down toward the bottom, you’ll see a familiar name under Director of On-Campus Recruiting: Nick Holt.
New Mexico’s ‘pass’ game
Ex-Notre Dame coach Bob Davie, right, is running the triple option at New Mexico, and the Lobos almost upset Boise State last week. New Mexico threw one pass in the second half – it was incomplete on the final play – when it outscored the Broncos 29-7.
