It appears the Puyallup High quarterback position is in capable hands. After sophomore first-year starter Brendan Illies generated 1,734 yards of total offense in five games, he is threatening the SPSL record of 3,309 yards set by Lakes’ Drew Miller in 1995.
Bulldogs going big in Belfair
North Mason has suffered through some low points the past three seasons, including a 1-9 mark in 2011. But the Bulldogs are starting to roll in their option rushing attack, and 12 seniors have helped the team to a winning record (3-2) in the season’s first month.

Much-publicized is the overall athleticism of Bellarmine Prep’s Sefo Liufau. But the quarterback has also been efficient in his three seasons as a starter. In 666 career passing attempts, he has thrown 56 touchdowns and just 15 interceptions.

Even the most jaded football fan has to be pulling for the Omak Pioneers. They have been shut out in four games, and have scored one touchdown – on Alex Aguilar’s 39-yard pass to Marvin Frank – in a 54-7 loss to Cascade of Leavenworth in Week 4.
