The public has the chance this month to sail around Gig Harbor aboard a boat built by a local company.

To help create awareness for the Gig Harbor BoatShop, free trips aboard the Pirouette are being offered Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays running from today through Nov. 4. There are three trips offered on Saturdays.

Pirouette is the second Thunderbird built entirely at Eddon Boat. The Gig Harbor BoatShop was able to purchase the sailboat, and volunteers spent more than two years restoring it to its original state. The renovated boat was launched in May.

Reservations are required, and the Pirouette can take only three guests at one time. You can reserve a spot, check sailing times and learn more about the trips by going to gigharborboatshop.org.
