The first razor-clam dig of the 2012-13 season is scheduled to open Saturday on four beaches. The dig will proceed if tests show clams are safe to eat.
The digging days and evening low tides for beaches scheduled to open are:
Saturday: 5:41 p.m., 0.3 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis and Mocrocks.
Oct. 14: 6:26 p.m., -0.5 feet; Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis and Mocrocks.
Oct. 15: 7:11 p.m., -1.1 feet; Long Beach and Twin Harbors.
Oct. 16: 7:57 p.m., -1.5 feet; Twin Harbors.
Oct. 17: 8:44 p.m., -1.6 feet; Twin Harbors
Oct. 18: 9:34 p.m., -1.4 feet; Twin Harbors.
With the low tides late in the day, diggers need be prepared for digging in the dark.
All diggers age 15 or older must have an applicable 2012-13 fishing license to harvest razor clams on any beach. Licenses, ranging from a three-day razor clam license to an annual combination fishing license, are available at https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov and from license vendors around the state.
