Firefighters gained the upper hand Tuesday on a small wildfire burning on an Ashford hillside, according to the state Department of Natural Resources.
The blaze started Monday on steep terrain near Park Junction. It covered 10 to 11 acres.
Nearly 50 firefighters battled the flames with hoses and cutting lines on the east and west flanks of the fire.
“We feel the fire is under control,” DNR spokesman Bruce Livingston said. The blaze was about 20 percent contained. Investigators had not determined the cause.
