Wednesday’s highlights
Courtney Schwan’s 14 kills, six aces and two blocks helped keep No. 5 Bellarmine Prep undefeated in Narrows 4A volleyball after beating Stadium, 25-10, 25-20, 25-21. Padi Webb led the Tigers with 14 kills, and Lauren Schultz had 19 assists in the loss.
Lincoln’s Tita Ah-Hee led her team with 24 kills to help the Narrows 3A Abes win after having to overcome a first-set loss against league foe Mount Tahoma, 19-25, 25-15, 25-17, 29-27.
Stadium cross country runner Cameron Freshwater (16 minutes, 57 seconds) finished first at the Tacoma City Championship, holding off teammate Shay Glacken-Coley (17:01) and Wilson’s Andrew Babson (17:37) to help the Tigers win the boys’ event. In the girls’ race, Wilson’s Shelby Alongi (21:31.70) came in first ahead of Stadium’s Giorgia Holloway (22:00) and Katie Cribb (22:04) – but the Tigers took the team title.
Joseph Bocchi led Lakes with seven goals, and Sage Dixon-Galbreath had five to help the Lancers beat Wilson, 22-5, in water polo.
Enumclaw’s Tammy Wilkening earned medalist honors after shooting a one-over 37 at High Cedars to help the SPSL 2A Hornets defeat league foe Bonney Lake, 147-104.
Orting’s Joe Harvie shot a two-over 38 to help the Cardinals beat Clover Park at High Cedars, 50-24, in an SPSL 2A match.
