UPDATE: It appears the Twitter threats may be part of a publicity stunt. The supposed thief unveiled the goods at noon eastern time, linking to a Bieber music video.
Biebers publicist Melissa Victor told the Associated Press its not a hoax and the laptop was indeed stolen.
Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum says a report was filed, but he doesnt foresee spending much time investigating.
EARLIER STORY:
An anonymous Twitter user on Wednesday posted what he or she claims are videos from Justin Bieber’s camera and threatened via the social networking site to release more at noon Friday.
The teen pop/rock performer tweeted Wednesday that he had personal items stolen during his concert at the Tacoma Dome on Tuesday night:
yesterday during the show me and my tour manager josh had some stuff stolen. really sucks. people should respect other’s property
Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) October 10, 2012
He later added:
i had a lot of personal footage on that computer and camera and that is what bothers me the most. #lame #norespect
That same day, someone only as @gexwy tweeted links to what appear to be several short home videos of Bieber with friends and backstage at a concert and mocked Bieber’s “password protection.”
@justinbieber notice us and answer your dms (direct messages, a private way to communicate on Twitter) or we are going to put the other videos from the camera out!
On Thursday, @gexwy tweeted, among other things:
TOMORROW. u’ve been warned. should of listened @justinbieber
Whatever the anonymous user presumably wanted, Bieber wasn’t having it Thursday.
@gexwy no matter what you have and what you post tomorrow i know my fans wont leave me. screw it. #toostrong
Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) October 11, 2012
The user replied:
@justinbieber haha. that is what u think. we will see tomorrow at NOON. last chance.
And later:
TOMORROW PUNK! @justinbieber
Tacoma officials viewed surveillance tape of the room where Bieber’s property allegedly was stolen and “couldn’t make a determination” of any theft, Tacoma Dome interim director Rob Henson said Wednesday.
