Weyerhaeuser Co. officials will check whether it can reopen its lands, which had been closed to the public because of fire danger, after this weekend.
The company closed all of its Western Timberlands operations in Washington and Oregon on Sept. 14; tree farms in Vail, Aberdeen, Raymond and St. Helens are closed indefinitely to recreational access.
The lands will remain closed until they receive enough rain and temperatures drop, company officials said. They’ll reassess after this weekend whether that happened, spokesman Anthony Chavez said Thursday.
People planning to visit the company’s forestlands in either state can call 866-636-6531 in Washington to find out whether they’re open. The number in Oregon is 888-741-5403.
