Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb did not suffer any fractures to his ribs or sternum during Sunday's game against Buffalo, but the team announced Tuesday the injury-prone passer will still be out for an unspecified period of time.

Results of a CT scan as well as an MRI did come up negative on Kolb, who left with just over two minutes left in regulation of the Cardinals' 19-16 overtime loss to the Bills after having two Buffalo players land on him while falling forward on a run. However, it's almost certain the six-year pro will not play when Arizona visits Minnesota this Sunday.

Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt has yet to publicly comment on Kolb's status, but is expected to do so following Wednesday's practice.

Kolb lost a preseason competition with John Skelton to be Arizona's No. 1 signal-caller, but took over when Skelton sprained an ankle in the team's Week 1 opener against Seattle and has started the last five games. For the season, the 28-year-old has thrown for 1,169 yards and eight touchdowns with just three interceptions while taking a league-high 27 sacks.

Skelton replaced Kolb in the Buffalo game and will likely be under center for Arizona's matchup with the Vikings, with rookie Ryan Lindley serving as the backup.
