Safe Streets honors Steilacoom High School club

The Steilacoom High School Youth Leading Change Club has been awarded the 2012 Superstar Outstanding Youth Group Award from Tacoma Safe Streets.

The Steilacoom High School Youth Leading Change Club has been awarded the 2012 Superstar Outstanding Youth Group Award from Tacoma Safe Streets.

The group’s mission is to create awareness and education around issues such as underage drinking, prescription pill abuse and smoking risks.

    Two local support groups -- the Better Breathers group and a group for people with pulmonary hypertension -- are combining to form a single group, which will meet the third Thursday of the month at the Tri-Cities Cancer Center, 7350 W. Deschutes Ave., Kennewick.

    Coming to Terms with Loss, a group for adults experiencing grief, will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays from April 9 to June 25.

  • Prize offered to biggest group attending walk

    The March of Dimes is awarding a $250 grand prize to the biggest group attending the March for Respect.

    The March for Respect, to be held March 23 in Richland, will raise awareness and money for individuals with developmental disabilities.
