The Dallas Cowboys placed linebacker Sean Lee on injured reserve Wednesday.

Lee suffered a toe injury in the second half of the Cowboys' 19-14 victory over the Carolina Panthers last Sunday, and will undergo surgery on Tuesday to repair torn ligaments.

The third-year pro was Dallas' leading tackler this season with 58. He also had an interception.

The Cowboys also placed punter Chris Jones on IR with a knee sprain and signed linebacker Ernie Sims and safety Charlie Peprah.

Sims, whom the Detroit Lions selected with the ninth-overall pick in the 2006 draft, spent last season with the Indianapolis Colts, registering 32 tackles.

Peprah had 74 tackles and five interceptions through 16 games (14 starts) with the Green Bay Packers last season.
