A 57-year-old Spanaway woman who was stabbed last week in a robbery at her home has been upgraded from critical to stable condition, officials said Tuesday.

Pierce County sheriff’s detectives are still trying to identify the man who broke into the woman’s home, stabbed her, tied her up and fled in her car. He posed as a deliveryman, wearing a brown uniform and carrying a box.

The attack occurred just before 10 a.m. Friday in the 19600 block of 15th Avenue Court East. The woman, who was bound at her hands and feet, was able to get to a neighbor’s house and ask for help. Her car later was found abandoned.

Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said it’s still unclear why the woman’s home was targeted.

Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to the robber being arrested and charged. Contact them at 253-591-5959.
