Buffalo Bills defensive end Mario Williams underwent a procedure to address a nagging left wrist injury.

Bills coach Chan Gailey said Wednesday that Williams, one of the club's marquee free-agent additions, had surgery to relieve discomfort in the wrist and expected him to be a participant in practice next week.

The Bills have their bye this week.

Williams has totaled 16 tackles and 3 1/2 sacks while starting all seven games this season.
