 • Join guest lecturer Norbert Zimmermann of the Vienna Academy of Sciences as he presents “Showing the Invisible: 3-D Scanning in the Roman Catacombs.” The catacombs are known to house the earliest Christian paintings of Western art, but its subterranean world remains widely inaccessible. The free talk is at 5 tonight at the University of Puget Sound McIntyre Hall, North 15th and North Alder streets, Tacoma. 253-879-3555, pugetsound.edu/calendars.

 • Learn how to use your pocket-sized navigator to pinpoint your location, mark waypoints and navigate to distant points at the GPS Navigation Basics workshop tonight. It’s from 6:30-8:30 tonight at REI Olympia, 625 Black Lake Blvd. SW, Olympia. Cost is $30 for REI members or $50 for nonmembers. 360-786-1938, rei.com/Olympia.
