Problems with new catalog, circulation system keep Tacoma Public Library closed through Monday

Due to “unexpected and continuing problems” with the city library department’s new catalog and circulation system, Tacoma’s main library branch has been closed all week — and will remain so through Monday afternoon.

Due to “unexpected and continuing problems” with the city library department’s new catalog and circulation system, Tacoma’s main library branch has been closed all week — and will remain so through Monday afternoon.

In a press release issued late Wednesday, city library director Susan Odencrantz said a California-based vendor installing the new systems hasn’t been able to transfer patron and catalog records.

    “We are delighted to have her on board,” said Deb Lambert, chairwoman of the library system’s board of trustees, which selected Perkins as the new executive director. “We’re excited about the future and the possibilities.”
