A new look for burger emporium Wendy’s is making its West Coast debut Monday in Tacoma.
The new design, one of four new looks for the fast-food chain, is dubbed the “Ultra-Modern” by Wendy’s. The company says the simple, straight-edged design was inspired by the works of famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
A ribbon-cutting for the new-look restaurant is set for Monday at the location, 1401 E. 72nd St. near Portland Avenue.
The fresh look will feature a fireplace, a flat-panel television and a free Wi-Fi along with a Coke Freestyle beverage dispenser that offers patrons 100 or so beverage combinations.
The Tacoma location is the first Wendy’s on the West Coast to receive the new design treatment, said the chain.
Members of the Eastside Neighborhood Council will participate in the opening event. Wendy’s will make a donation to Friends of McKinley Park in honor of the event.
“This restaurant features an innovative interior and exterior design. It is the first of Wendy’s new designs to be unveiled in the Pacific Northwest ... actually the entire West Coast,” said Wendy’s division Vice President Chris Hutchinson in a news release. “It’s very different from what our customers are used to, but we think they’ll really like the look and feel of the restaurant.”
“These new remodels are part of a multi-year strategy to reinvigorate our brand and the way our customers interact with us,” Hutchinson said. “This brand strategy involves completely re-imaging our entire menu, new advertising and marketing, new restaurant apparel and product packaging. We are making great progress in all of these areas, and we think our customers will be surprised and excited about their new Wendy’s.”
Three other restaurant designs are being tested in multiple cities across North America.
