The Minnesota Vikings placed cornerback Chris Cook on injured reserve Friday, but with the "designated for return" tag.

In a Friday press conference, Frazier revealed that Cook suffered a broken wrist in Thursday's 36-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Cook, a third-year pro out of Virginia, sustained the injury during the second quarter of that home setback. He totaled 31 tackles in eight games this season.

Under the rules of the new IR designation, Cook is ineligible to participate in either team or individual drills, but is eligible to return to practice after six weeks and can return to the active list in eight.

Rookie Josh Robinson is expected to take Cook's slot, starting with Minnesota's Nov. 4 game at Seattle.

No matter how unimpeachable whole-wheat pasta is in terms of nutritional cred, I’ve always found it off-putting. Sure, it has more fiber and whole-grain nutrition. But it always struck me as rather spineless and dull. Happily, several brands recently have developed very respectable lines of 100 percent whole-wheat pasta. You might want to taste a few of them to decide which is your favorite.

Last week city staff interviewed, reviewed and winnowed a pool of six candidates: two in-house deputy chiefs and four experienced police officers from other departments. They picked Cook, 57, who got good reviews from Linville and high-ranking Bellingham officers.
