Detectives trying to find failed bank robber
Pierce County sheriff’s detectives were trying Friday to identify a man who tried to rob a bank in University Place on Tuesday.
The attempted robbery occurred about 2:45 p.m. at a Key Bank branch in the 2400 block of Mildred Street West.
A man entered the bank and gave a teller a note demanding cash, detectives said. He then yelled at the teller and another employee. Detectives said he snatched the note back and ran out of the bank without any money.
The would-be robber was described as black, about age 20, 5 feet 4 and 140 pounds. He wore black-rimmed glasses, a green camouflage New York Yankees baseball hat, blue jeans and a light gray hooded sweatshirt over a white T-shirt.
Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man. Call them at 253-591-5959.
