Now Notre Dame is ahead of Oregon in the BCS standings.

The Fighting Irish became the latest team to move past Oregon, taking third place Sunday behind Alabama and Kansas State. The Ducks remained fourth despite routing Colorado, 70-14.

Florida fell out of the top five with a 17-9 loss to Georgia, helping to set the field in the race for the BCS title game with a month to go in the regular season.

Alabama is locked in at No. 1, and if the Crimson Tide can keep winning it will play for its third championship in four years. The Wildcats (.9400), Fighting Irish (.9147) and Ducks (.9136) need to remain unbeaten, and keep an eye on each other.

The computer ratings are holding the Ducks back because of their strength of schedule.

The Ducks are second in the Harris poll and USA Today poll, but fifth in the computer ratings.

Kansas State is third in each poll. Notre Dame is fourth.

INJURY WOES

Maryland lost a fourth quarterback to a season-ending injury when true freshman Caleb Rowe suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Rowe was hurt in his first start Saturday against Boston College.

C.J. Brown tore an ACL in August and was replaced by Perry Hills, who tore an ACL against North Carolina State on Oct. 20. Devin Burns broke his foot in that game.

“I don’t know if something like that has ever happened to a team at this position,” coach Randy Edsall said

True freshman linebacker Shawn Petty, who was an option quarterback in high school, is expected to start against Georgia Tech on Saturday. True freshman tight end Brian McMahon will be the backup.

EXTRA POINTS

Idaho dismissed two players for violating team rules and a third has been suspended for violating athletic department policy. Junior quarterback Dominique Blackman, who started seven games, and senior linebacker Conrad Scheidt, who started three, are off the team, and junior tight end Taylor Elmo, from Yakima’s Eisenhower High, has been suspended. … South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier said star junior running back Marcus Lattimore, who dislocated his right knee and sustained ligament damage, could return. Lattimore still has a redshirt season available and Spurrier said if Lattimore doesn’t return next season, he could in 2014.
