Banff film tour makes South Sound stops

Tickets are on sale for the two South Sound stops on the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour. The tour will come to Olympia on Dec. 1-2 and Tacoma on Dec. 3-4.

Tickets are on sale for the two South Sound stops on the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour. The tour will come to Olympia on Dec. 1-2 and Tacoma on Dec. 3-4.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour is produced by The Banff Centre and features award-winning films and audience favorites from approximately 300 films entered in the annual festival in Banff, Alberta.

The world tour features films that offer heart-stopping action and sometimes hilarious adventures of mountain climbing, skiing, biking and kayaking in some of the most beautiful places on Earth.

Each year, the tour travels to 32 countries, reaching more than 245,000 people at more than 635 screenings.

OLYMPIA SHOW: Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 2 at 6 p.m., Capitol Theater, 206 E. Fifth Ave, Olympia. Different films will be shown each night. Get your tickets at The Alpine Experience in downtown Olympia (360-956-1699), through the Olympia Film Society website at olympiafilmsociety.org or at the box office the night of the event.

Tickets are $14 for Dec. 1, and $12 on Dec. 2. Mountaineer and film society members and students and military with ID get $2 off for the Dec. 2 show. Tickets for both nights are $23. This stop on the world tour is hosted by The Mountaineers, in partnership with the Olympia Film Society and The Alpine Experience.

Proceeds from the event go to The Olympia Branch of the Mountaineers.

TACOMA SHOW: 7 p.m. Dec. 3-4, Rialto Theater, 310 S. Ninth St., Tacoma. Different films will be shown each night. The event is sponsored by the Tacoma Branch of The Mountaineers and the University of Puget Sound Outdoor Program.

Tickets are $18 or $15 for Mountaineers, University of Puget Sound and Edgeworks Community members. A two-night ticket is $30 or $27 for Mountaineers, University of Puget Sound and Edgeworks Community members. The Seattle showings on Nov. 28-30 are sold out.
