The Burke Museum is supporting the effors of the Wild Steelhead Coalition with an exhibit and art sale.

The museum is celebrating the steelhead – known as the fish of a thousand casts and the state fish – through Nov. 15. “The Magnificent Steelhead” exhibit will culminate with a reception and art sale on Thursday, with all of the proceeds benefiting the coalition. The group works to increase the return of wild steelhead to the rivers and streams in the Pacific Northwest.

Works include photographs printed on canvas, as well as mixed media pieces from individuals in the angling community. Among the artists are Andy Anderson, Jeff Bright, Keith Douglas, Brian Huskey, Brian O’Keefe, Jonathan Marquardt, Dave McCoy, Ken Moorish, Tim Pask, Steve Perih, Mike Savlen and Bob White.

Thursday’s reception will run from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and include hors d’oeuvres from the Steelhead Diner and beverages from Precept Wine.

The museum is located on the University of Washington’s Seattle campus, at the intersection of 17th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 45th Street. For more information, go to burkemuseum.org.
