Fife High School holding food drive until Nov. 19

Fife High School will sponsor a Food Drive today until Nov. 19. Donations will be used in the Fife-Milton-Edgewood community during the holiday season.

Fife High School will sponsor a Food Drive today until Nov. 19. Donations will be used in the Fife-Milton-Edgewood community during the holiday season. The school also has engaged Steilacoom High School in a competition to see which school can solicit the most donations. Fife has created a Facebook page called “Food Battle 2012: Fight Hunger. Beat Steilacoom!” in hopes to get the word out about the food drive. Donations will be accepted at the school at 5616 20th St. E. Call 253-737-8774 for more information.

  • Stock the Shelter event taking donations today

    Volunteers from Tri-Cities Animal Shelter in Pasco will have a Stock the Shelter Food & Supplies Drive and open house from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the shelter, 1312 W. 18th St., Pasco.

    The shelter takes in lost, abandoned and abused animals from Richland, Kennewick and Pasco. There are more than 150 animals at the shelter, which needs dry cat and dog food (including kitten and puppy chows), canned food, kitten and puppy formula and bottles, new and gently used throw blankets, dish cloths, baby blankets, wash cloths, dog and cat treats, new and used pet carriers, nonfabric animal toys, laundry detergent, bleach and garbage bags.

    Students from Kamiakin High School will accept the donations, show visitors around the shelter and provide information about adoptable animals and volunteer opportunities.

  • Umatilla High plans drive for school event

    UMATILLA -- Umatilla High School is holding a "Drive One For Your School" event.

    The event, sponsored by Tom Denchel Ford, is a fundraiser for the school's sports teams and clubs.

    There will be food, carnival games and the opportunity to test drive cars.
