Two elementary schools and a daycare were locked down this morning while Federal Way police searched for two burglars who broke into two homes in different neighborhoods.

Officers were called about 7:30 a.m. to a house in the 32500 block of 41st Avenue Southwest after a neighbor reported seeing a pair of men burglarizing the home.

The witness provided a description of the getaway car, which was spotted soon after outside another house in the 30800 block of 50 Place Southwest.

Police said the men were also breaking into that home and that the suspects’ vehicle was stolen.

One of the alleged burglars was arrested but the second remains at large. While police used a K-9 unit to look for the burglars, Decatur High School, Twin Lakes and Green Gables Elementary and Rainbow Connection Daycare Center were placed on lockdown as a precaution.

The suspect still at large is white, about 20 years old, 5-feet-9 with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a green stocking cap, jeans and a black Carhart jacket.

Anyone who spots the man is asked to call 911.
