    BELLINGHAM - Environmentalist and activist David Suzuki will speak at Western Washington University Monday, May 6, as part of the university's Japan Week celebration.

    Suzuki's lecture is called "Time is Running Out: Ecology or Economics?" and will take place at noon at WWU's Performing Arts Center Concert Hall. The talk is free and open to the public.

    Suzuki has worked as a radio and television host, explaining natural sciences in an understandable way, and has written more than 50 books. He is currently a professor emeritus at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

    A motorcyclist was injured Thursday afternoon when his 2007 Suzuki Vz800Z veered off the road on Interstate 182 in Richland, the Washington State Patrol reported.

    Timothy E. Neasham, 40, was driving east on the highway at 1:45 p.m. when he attempted to exit to Highway 240. His motorcycle hit the shoulder and he fell from the bike, the WSP reported.

    He was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, treated and released.

  • Richland man injured in crash south of Asotin

    A Richland man was injured Wednesday afternoon after driving off the road near Asotin.

    Robert D. Tiffany, 56, was driving a 1993 Suzuki Samurai north on Highway 129, about 13 miles south of Asotin, when his car crossed the center line at 3:24 p.m.

    The car went off the southbound side of the road, said the Washington State Patrol.
