Kennewick police Chief Ken Hohenberg will speak at the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program's Recognition Breakfast.
The breakfast will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Memories at Sunset Event Center, 915 bypass highway, Richland.
The breakfast will honor volunteers who logged 30 hours or more in a year.
LYNDEN - To mark the 40th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision, Lynden Human Life is holding a memorial service.
Abortion opponents will gather at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at the Monumenta Cemetery at the northeast corner of Guide Meridian and Front Street.They will be prayers, singing and reflection during the event.

BELLINGHAM - The annual Fishermen's Memorial and Blessing of the Fleet will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at Zuanich Point Park next to Squalicum Harbor.
The gathering will include a blessing for local fishers as they start their season. At the end of the ceremony, a wreath commemorating fishers who died at sea will be placed on the waters of Bellingham Bay.
Refreshments and seafood entree will be provided after the event in the Squalicum Boathouse. Participants are invited to bring a salad or side dish.
For Shirley Schmunk, being a Gold Star Mother is about more than her own grief since losing her son, Spc. Jeremiah Schmunk, in Iraq in 2004.
It's about reaching out to the other mothers, fathers, sisters or brothers who lost loved ones during wartime and helping them heal, even though they can never forget.
Her work in recent years has included creating the annual Time of Remembrance event in West Richland, a memorial ceremony honoring men and women who lost their lives serving in Iraq or Afghanistan, or after returning home.
