Some public Veterans Day observances in the Puget Sound region:

11 a.m., Evergreen Washelli Cemetery, Seattle.

The cemetery’s 63rd Annual Veterans Day Memorial Celebration will feature U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, who will give remarks on the duty owed to the nation’s veterans. The event is a service of remembrance and will take place at the Doughboy statue at the base of the Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

1 p.m., Pioneer Park Pavilion, downtown Puyallup.

Retired U.S. Air Force Col. Joe Jackson, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for heroism in Vietnam, will speak at Puyallup’s annual Veterans Day program. The event includes local groups playing a program of patriotic music and standards, and stories of military service told by veterans. Cadets from local Junior ROTC high school programs also will participate.
