Erik Edwards of Bellarmine Preparatory School recently was honored with the National Youth Congressional Silver Award from U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks.
The award recognizes initiative, service and achievement in voluntary public service, personal development, physical fitness and a specific expedition or exploration.
Edwards is the only person from Washington state this year to earn the award, said regional director Mark Stevens.

Nominations are now being accepted for the Tri-Citian of the Year award.
The award honors community members committed to leadership, service and development and growth of the Tri-Cities.
Nomination are due April 19 and forms are available online at tricitianoftheyear.org. The winner will be announced at a banquet May 11.
Pastor Thad Huff recently was awarded the 2013 Washington Association of School Administrators Region 111 Community Leadership Award.
