 • The African Asante Children’s Choir will perform in a 5 p.m. show today at Knutzen Family Theatre, 3200 SW Dash Point Road, Federal Way. A freewill offering will be collected. 253-517-3883, unityofsouthsound.org.

 • The 2012 Rocket Race is at 1 p.m. today. The event features propeller-driven balsa rockets powered by rubber bands. Olympic Flight Museum, 7637 Old Highway 99 SE, Olympia. Admission is $10-$15, call 360-705-3925 for more information.

 • Stream Team Salmon Stewards host the Chum Salmon Cider Celebration from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday. Thousands of chum salmon make the long journey from the ocean to McLane Creek. The McLane Creek Nature Trail, part of Capital State Forest, offers excellent viewing of this yearly display. Hot cider and snacks will be provided. It’s free, but a state Discover Pass is required.
