Dylan Lippert, e-sales manager at Tacoma Goodwill, said Tuesday he has spoken with the bidder whose winning offer of $21,005 on Monday secured a rare Salvador Dali etching that had been anonymously donated to the charity.

The winner, Lippert said, is from the East Coast and has chosen not to be identified.

The person did, however, offer a statement:

“My wife and I are very interested in Salvador Dali’s work, and we saw the Dali on the news and thought it would be a great way to add to our collection while supporting a great cause. We donate to Goodwill all the time and are very happy that our purchase is helping those in need.”

The money, Lippert said, will fund 12 job-training scholarships for persons with disabilities or other barriers to employment.
