The state Department of Health took the following actions regarding Pierce County health care providers in October.

The Nursing Assistant Program charged certified nursing assistant Pamela M. Blakey with unprofessional conduct. She allegedly slapped an 87-year-old patient in the mouth three times. The Department of Social and Health Services issued a final finding that Blakey physically abused a vulnerable adult and can no longer be employed in a position that allows unsupervised access to vulnerable adults.

The Nursing Commission charged licensed practical nurse Mary J. Davis with unprofessional conduct. She allegedly didn’t comply with a previous stipulation.

The Nursing Assistant Program charged certified nursing assistant Jennifer Hellums with unprofessional conduct. She allegedly didn’t comply with a previous order.

The Nursing Assistant Program charged registered nursing assistant and certified nursing assistant Juwana R. Tumblin with unprofessional conduct. She allegedly stole several jewelry pieces from three residents at the assisted-living facility where she worked, then pawned the pieces. She was charged with theft and trafficking in stolen property.

    Juan P. Ochoa's suspension is the culmination of unprofessional conduct charges filed in summer 2012 by the state agency that licenses massage therapists. The noncriminal charges were based on allegations that Ochoa had unwanted sexual contact with two female patients.

    Ochoa agreed to the five-year suspension rather than proceed with a hearing, documents said.
