B y the numbers That is the number of registered boats in Washington in 2011, according to the U.S. Coast Guard. That is down from the 237,921 boats that were registered in 2010. The state requires all motorboats be registered, except those less than 16 feet long with motors 10 horsepower or less used solely on exclusive state waters, and sailboats greater than 16 feet long.
