The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

From an earlier story:

A Shelton-area woman who was shot while answering her door early Wednesday died Saturday afternoon, according to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.

Because she died at an Olympia hospital, further information will be released by the Thurston County Medical Examiner’s Office, Mason County Chief Deputy Dean Byrd said.

The shooting was reported at 3:38 a.m. Wednesday about 4 miles north of Shelton on Tyler Lane.

Two men at the door woke the woman, and she was shot when she opened it, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies searched the area for several hours, but did not find the suspects, who apparently fled on foot.
