Lacey police arrested a 28-year-old man Monday morning on suspicion of stealing a Ford F-150 pickup from a driveway in the 5600 block of Parkside Drive.

The owner reported that the pickup was missing when he got up to go to work about 4:45 a.m.

About 6 a.m., a Lacey police officer saw the pickup being driven on 53rd Avenue Southeast in Lacey, Lt. Phil Comstock said.

According to Comstock:

The officer tried to initiate a traffic stop on College Street, but the pickup sped away to the area of the Safeway parking lot in the 4700 block of Yelm Highway. Police gave chase, but the suspect ditched the pickup behind Farrelli’s Wood Fire Pizza and ran off.

About 7:30 a.m., police apprehended the suspect at 57th Avenue and Mount Rainier Drive. He was arrested for outstanding warrants and on suspicion of eluding police and possessing stolen property.
